where our story started…
The picture on the top is a painting of a barn, silo, and pine trees-done by my boyfriend December of 2020.
Fast forward to April 2021, we started our house hunting journey and put an offer on an old farmhouse. To our surprise, our offer was accepted, and we began the never-ending list of renovations. I can’t help but think his painting was some kind of manifestation of what was to come.
We’ve got lots of work to do, and we are learning so much along the way, especially since we are tackling most of this renovation ourselves. Although I cannot wait to see my designs come to life, I am learning to take a step back and appreciate the stages in between, messes and all.
Follow along as we transform each space & turn this house into our home
Here is a glimpse of our home before we got the keys:

The kitchen before it got a transformation

A look from the kitchen into the dining room. Note the paper towel holder in the most inconvenient location.

This vintage farmhouse sink was found in the basement. I plan to repurpose it in our mudroom/entryway.

An eccentric collection of glass bottles stuck in the basement stone walls

This large piece of vinyl on the floor was the first thing to go.

The very spacious dining room with all the patterns

The wallpaper in the dining room. I loved the pattern, but it was very worn. I found curtains in a similar pattern for the dining room as an ode to it's originally glory.

The character of an original built in hutch.

We are still trying to figure out what was going on here..

A look into the dining room from the living room.

The arch where the dining room meets the living room. The arch stayed as we renovated this space.

The living room with the most beautiful natural light in the mornings.

The only room with carpet (thank god)- This will be our future guest bedroom.

So many little oddities that spark curiosity

This room will be used as our home office/den.
